Introducing Jasen Canul!

The Antyx team is thrilled to welcome Jasen Canul to our summer squad. You may recognize Jasen from his previous work with us through Youth Voices, and he has been instrumental in organizing Culture Shock for the past two years! He was kind enough to participate in our welcome Q&A so everyone can get to know him better... 

If your personality were a film, what genre would it be?

What is the best part of your life?
McDonald’s dollar drink days.

What are you passionate about and why? 
Dance is usually an outlet that brings me a lot of joy. The why is probable the hardest part to answer about that question. At first it was simply because it fun and made me happy when I did, but as I start to progress in this art form I realize that there was a bigger picture.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
8 hours of sleep 

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Young

What do you like most about working with Antyx Community Arts?
I like how this job is a more social and active as oppose to a depressing desk job. It also feels gratifying that my job is working toward giving back to the community (which I didn’t know you could get paid for that when I was younger LOL).  It’s also nice to be working and collaborating with youth. I don’t really see myself as an adult so having exposure to another youth’s creative mind is definitely a super cool and funny experience.
