YLAC Hosts Watermelon Eating Contest

Feeling exam stress?

Join the newly formed Youth Leadership Action Crew (YLAC) for a watermelon eating contest this week!

The past few weeks youth from the Boys and Girls Club, City of Calgary, Antyx Community Arts, Aspen Youth Services and Antyx Community Arts (among other partners) have been meeting as an informal youth leadership group in our communities.

After weeks of reflection among these youth, they voted on a name for themselves on May 18. They have settled on: Youth Leadership Action Crew (YLAC). This new group is coming up with wonderful ideas to create change in the North of McKnight Community, one example is a possible community litter clean up event in the future.

YLAC meetings are currently held Thursdays from 4pm-5pm. A community party and watermelon eating contest will be held June 1st to destress before exams. The party includes a costume photo booth, a dream board where everyone can write their dreams and hopes for the future, and a self-care balloon activity. Please come join us, make friends and connect with the community, which holds unlimited potential!

When: Thursday, June 1st
Time: 4pm-6pm
Where: Room D105
1000Voices at the Genesis Centre
7555 Falconridge Blvd NE
