Youth Arts Action Genesis Week 2: Record Painting Projects Part 1- Record of Emotion

Free After-School Program for Youth Ages 12-18

Program Description:

Over the next two weeks, the youth will be creating the first piece for the Art Exhibit known as The Record Player Project. The focus of this project is to express the complexities of emotions and feelings through exploring a sense of self. The project will include painting a record with acrylics, creating a soundtrack of songs that represent their various emotions, and painting an album cover.

Today’s session will be focused on painting the record with acrylic paint to represent an emotion. Creating a “Record of their emotion”.

Discussion points: What colors do you attribute to different emotions? How can you utilize those colors to bring life to your record player?

Youth will also begin their soundtrack for their record by selecting one song that will be added to the exhibit with a QR Code so the viewer can listen to a song from the track was a key part of the process.
