Youth Arts Action Genesis Week 1: Watercolour Book Mark Activity
Free After-School Program for Youth Ages 12-18
Program Description:
The initial session of the program will be dedicated to creating watercolour art pieces that will be cut into multiple book mark and given to each member of the group. The intention of this activity is to foster a sense of community as everyone is creating an individual piece that all members get to take part in. This invites the idea that we are all individuals that are part of a whole. Youth will leave with a bookmark from each member of the group.
Watercolor flows in unpredictable directions at times, which can teach us the ability to adapt to circumstances and be with the continual changes in life. The use of watercolour will be present in discussing the ever-changing nature of the human experience while playing with the different styles of watercoulor expression.
Discussion Point: Do you find the fluidity of watercolour freeing or frustrating? Why?
