Youth Arts Action Genesis Week 3: Record Painting Projects Part 2- Cover Album Creation

Free Calgary after-school program for youth ages 12-18.

Program Description:

Today’s session is designated to creating the album cover for the record player project. The intention of the cover is to represent the wholeness of the record and the songs. We will show different album covers as examples to invite reflection on how youth want to represent their own cover.

Discussion point: What do the different albums invite the viewer to feel?

Youth will select what medium they would like to create their individual cover with. The resources available to choose from will be acrylic paint, pencil crayons, pen and magazines for a collage style piece.

Discussion Point: How does the medium you chose reflect the emotions that you were conveying on the record? How does the project as a whole relate to your sense of self?
