Forest Lawn Natural Playground Sign Complete

The youth and artists from this term’s Greater Forest Lawn Youth Arts Action Committee are proud to present the completed park signage that was installed in the Forest Lawn Natural Playground this winter.

The work was produced by Antyx Community Arts & Parks Foundation Calgary.  The sign was designed by the youth in the Greater Forest Lawn Youth Arts Action Committee with artistic guidance from local artist Lane Shordee

You park is located at the green space of 43rd Street and 10th Avenue SE.

Currently, phase 1 of the park is complete with plans for phase 2 to be complete by the end of Summer 2016.

Stay tuned for more positive social change projects lead by this group in Greater Forest Lawn Calgary.

Youth Arts Action

YOUTH ARTS ACTION are a group of youth (ages 15-18) who act as creative leaders in the Greater Forest Lawn area. The youth identify and address issues that are relevant to them in the area and then create a series of creative projects to transform these issues in their community. Youth will work with local artists and organizations and will build community leadership and artistic skills while doing so.

We are looking for youth interested in making positive social change in their communities through creative ways starting this September 2015. We will be meeting every Tuesday 4:00pm-6:00pm at our Antyx Youth Arts Hub #205 4202 17 Ave SE starting September 22, 2015 . Currently, projects include building a digital sound installation and sculpture to be installed in the new natural playground across the street from Greater Forest Lawn High School. Other projects will be generated depending on the issues that the youth want to address. We have also planned a series of field trips to galleries, events and to meet other youth leaders throughout the fall term. There is no registration fee necessary.

ANTYX COMMUNITY ARTS is a creatively unique organization that develops opportunities for youth to use the arts for self-exploration, building community connection and making positive social change. Our mission is to engage youth to empower and transform the communities they live in.
